Personal Statement

I had to look after my sisters and brother when I was a child because

our parent was immersed in their work. They had no time to company with us. Although I was young, I still could take care of them very well. I knew how to keep them live together in peace and understood how to make them to be temperate. This was a piece of cake for me. One day, my friend told me that I would be extremely successful if I could assist parents to control their noisy boys. This was first time that I considered seriously.

There was just an earthquake in Wenchuan in 20 08, a large number of people cannot get out from sorrow of loosing families and friends. They were hopeless and helpless in that rough time. Many of them committed suicide or suffered from depression. How much I wish I could help them not only material but also psychology. If I were a psychological consultant, I must have contributed myself to them, but in fact, I am not!

As time goes by, I gradually germinated an idea of being a

psychological consultant. It is very important for people who were in difficulties if someone could give them help or some advice, especially children and teenagers. And I anticipate that I could become the one.

On campus, I have taken the course of psychology, it has imparted to me the necessary theoretical knowledge. My 83 points in psychology has made me the top student in my class. I have attempted at some research by submitting essays and research papers to a company. In performing those researches, I find that I have benefited considerably from my Mathematics and good skill of communication. I have mastered computer basis operation and I excel in preparing questionnaires. Off campus, I have worked as a social worker offering psychological consulting for pupils. For instance, if they have some things that they are shamed to talk with their parents, they will tell me and I will give them my opinions because we make friends with each other. This experience allowed me to gain insight into many important

aspects of the mental lives of this group of people beyond the mere statistical data. However, it is a regret that my knowledge is insufficient to offer

adequate consulting service to my friends of such diverse backgrounds. This fact reveals to me the need to undertake more advanced studies to improve my professional competence.

I am keenly interested in the development of psychology because our society is more and more competitive and world is different from what they think. They will have a sense of frustration since they are not able to

integrate into the world of adults. My desire to know more about psychology prompted me rise above my present conditions. Nanjing college for

population program management is very strong in those fields. It is an ideal place for me to fully develop my psychology potential. I would like to apply
